- Intend to set up offices along Silk Road Countries
- Over a hundred of business enterprises joined this campaign rapidly
Recently, the policy of “One Belt One Road” supported by the Chinese government has motivated many Hong Kong businesses to invest in the related countries. However, due to the unfamiliarity to the countries along Silk Road, they find it very difficult to get started. In lieu of this situation, Mr. Leung Lai Fung, the General Committee of the Federation of Hong Kong Industries, has privately formed Silk Road Strategies and Alliance Ltd. as a media to support local businesses with his abundant connections and working experience over past 50 years, providing timely market information and better communication. Moreover, he has planned to set up offices in 20 cities along the Silk Road regions in next five years. Since the opening of Silk Road Strategies and Alliance Ltd. in July 2016, there are more than a hundred of enterprises have joined the organization. Mr. Leung suggested that the Hong Kong Government should liaise and sign up “Investment Protection Agreement” with countries along the Silk Road region, so the enterprises could explore their investments in Belt and Road Countries with confidence.
Leung Lai Fung’s suggestion in exploring Silk Road Business Opportunities
- Hong Kong Government should negotiate and sign up “Investment Protection Agreement” with the related countries immediately so that the enterprise can explore deliberately
- To build up database on One Belt One Road countries and update the market information timely, so that Hong Kong enterprise could understand their market
- Due to high risks and instability of countries along Belt and Road, The Hong Kong Export Credit Insurance Corporation should lower the insurance premium and provide a higher protection and give confidence to Hong Kong businesses.
